Gaya, June 17: The death toll due to heatstroke at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College in Bihar's Gaya rose to 35, out of which 28 of them died undergoing treatment while seven were brought dead. The intense heatwave has created a havoc in three districts in Bihar killing over 100 people in Gaya, Aurangabad and Nawada. In the last 48 hours, five people have died in Munger while 60 died in Aurangabad due to the heatwave. In Gaya, 35 people have died while it is seven in Nawada, six in Nalanda, two in Kaimur, one in Samastipur and one in Arrah. Abhishek Singh, District Magistrate of Gaya, today imposed Section 144 in the district keeping in mind the extreme heatwave. The people are advised to be indoor from 11 am till 4 pm. A ban is also imposed in construction work from 11 am till 4 pm.
Observing the climate, All government-aided schools in Bihar will be shut till June 22. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed grief over the deaths and announced Rs four lakh compensation to the kins of victims.
