Patna, August 2: The state health department is evidently facing a cash-crunch in Bihar, as it has not released the salaries of several of its employees over the last seven months. The non-disbursal of pay has left the employees devastated, with one among them writing to the government civil surgeon seeking a leave to work as "labourer".
A clerk, identified as Abhay Kumar Tiwari who is deployed at a blood bank in Bhabua district, has sent an official request to the government civil surgeon of Bihar’s Kaimur district, to allow him to work as a daily wage earner to "pay the
school fees of his children". Kapil Sibal's HTN Tiranga TV Employees Face 'Sacking Without Pay'
Tiwari has claimed that the non-payment of fees has forced the school authorities to issue memos to both his children -- a son in Class 12 and daughter in Class 5 -- warning them of discontinuation of their academic discourse.
According to Tiwari, his multiple request to the health department seeking his salary has received a muted response, despite the allocation of funds for the salary-disbursal purpose.
The clerk said if his salary is not credited, and the application for leave is also rejected, he will be "forced to take an extreme step".
A senior official of the health department, while speaking to reporters, said the salary of Tiwari along with other employees will be released when the funds for the same will be granted.
The health department, claim reports, is evidently cash-crunched as several positions continue to remain vacant and salaries of scores of employees have not been released over the past few months.
