Bihar Floods: State Disaster Management Authority Says Over 7 Lakh Families, 15 Districts Affected; Announces Rs 6,000 Gratuitous Relief to Each Family

Patna, October 14: Following the devastating floods in Bihar, the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) on Monday declared that over seven lakh families have been affected by the floods. The data also says that 15 districts have been declared flood affected in the state of Bihar. The Authority also announced that the affected families will be provided Rs 6,000 each as Gratuitous Relief (GR). After the flood waters recided, dengue cases have been on the rise in the state. So far, around 1,400 people have been tested positive for dengue in Bihar including 1,135 cases in Patna due to waterlogged streets and the relentless rain in the region. The official also informed ANI that the local authorities of the state have launched a fumigation drive to combat the mosquito-borne disease from spreading further.

Earlier, Bihar State Disaster Management Authority had demanded the Coal India Limited to send two pumping machines of hyperpower intensity to clear the water from the flood-affected areas in the state. The management authority had also demanded the government to deploy two Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopters for lifting and airdropping food packets and medicines in the areas severely affected by the deluge.
