The death toll in Bihar floods has risen to 123, after 17 people lost their lives in the last 24 hours. Over 81 lakh people were affected in various districts of the state including Araria, Kishanganj, Madhubani, East Champaran, Sitamarhi and Sheohar districts.

According to a report published in Hindustan Times, at 10 people died in Sitamarhi, five in Madhubani and two in Muzaffarpur, during the last 24 hours. The state has received 482.6 mm rainfall during the monsoon this year.
As per Disaster Management Department officials, till now 1,25,000 people have been evacuated. Around 199 relief camps have been set up by the government in which over one lakh people have taken shelter. Bihar Floods: Water Levels Recede But Situation Remains Grim, Death Toll Mounts to 67.
In the wake of India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) warning of heavy rains, Muzaffarpur district administration has directed people to stay at homes. The advisory asked people living in the catchment areas of Burhi Gandak, Lakhandei Gandak and Bagmati to stay alert as the water levels will rise due to heavy rainfall in upper regions of Nepal. The water at Revaghat in Gandak river in the district was flowing only one metre below the danger mark.
Meanwhile, around 75 people have also lost their lives in flash floods in Assam. The water has flooded 20 out of 33 districts in the state. According to reports more than 34 lakh people were also affected in flash floods.
