Muzaffarpur, December 31: In a tragic incident, two workers feared dead, while seven others trapped after a fire broke out in a snacks factory in Chaknooran area in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district. According to reports, eight workers were also injured in the incident. Fire tenders have been rushed to the spot and rescue operations are underway. Injured were rushed to SKMCH Hospital. District authorities have reached the spot to take stock of the situation. However, the main cause of the fire has not been ascertained.

In a separate incident earlier in the day, a major fire broke out in cloth factory in Bhiwandi area of Thane district in Maharashtra. It was the third time in a week that such a fire took place in Bhiwandi. Though the reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, no casualty was reported in the incident.
In 2018, a total of 43 deaths due to fire incidents were recorded in the Maharashtra capital in 2018. The number of fatalities is higher than what was registered in 2017. In the preceding year, 25 people had died after being caught in blaze.
