Bihar, Chandigarh Slash Fuel Prices A Day After Centre's Decision To Cut Rates By Rs 2.50/Litre; Check New Fuel Prices Here
A day after the Central government announced a cut of Rs 2.50 per litre in the fuel prices, the Bihar government also reduced the prices of petrol and diesel today.
Patna, October 5: A day after the Central government announced a cut of Rs 2.50 per litre in the fuel prices, the Bihar government also reduced the prices of petrol and diesel today. The state government cut the petrol price by Rs 2.52 per litre and diesel prices by Rs 2.55. Petrol will now be sold at Rs 85.77 and diesel will cost Rs 76.61 to the consumers.
Apart from Bihar government, various Bharatiya Janata Party-led government ruled states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir also slashed the fuel prices by reducing the Value Added Tax (VAT). Today, Chandigarh government also slashed the fuel prices by Rs 1.50 per litre. Petrol will now be sold at Rs 76.95 and Diesel at Rs 69.47.
On October 5, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley cut petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2.50 per litre with immediate effect. The Modi government has reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 1.50 per litre, while the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) will further reduce prices by Re 1 per litre. The finance minister said that Rs 10,500 crore would be the impact of the excise duty cut this year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a meeting with his ministers over rising prices of petrol and diesel in the country. Jaitley and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were also present at the meeting. However, the prices are not exactly down today by Rs 5 due to the price rise today in dynamic pricing programme. According to Friday's rate, petrol in Mumbai stands at Rs 87.02, down Rs 4.37, and a litre of diesel is being sold at Rs 77.5, down Rs 2.65. A litre of petrol in Lucknow is at Rs 79, down 4.35. Petrol in Bhopal is being sold for Rs 84.73, down Rs 5.10.
