New Delhi, June 14: In a distressing account from Begusarai, Bihar, six-year-old Aayansh Kumar's wait for a critical heart surgery at AIIMS, Delhi, continues since 2019. The hospital has constituted a fact-finding committee to verify the allegations by the family of the boy.
The boy’s father, Ankit Kumar, a medical store helper, has shared the harrowing journey with The Times of India, highlighting the family's struggle against bureaucratic delays that have put Aayansh's life at risk.
Aayansh, who was diagnosed with a cardiac condition as an infant, was advised surgery by Dr. Sachin Talwar at AIIMS. Despite depositing the required Rs 60,000 for the operation and Rs 8,000 for tests, the surgery has been repeatedly postponed. Ankit's modest income of Rs 8,000 per month is stretched thin by medical expenses and the cost of travel to Delhi, which ranges from Rs 13,000 to Rs 15,000 per visit.
