Bhopal, June 21: In another shocking incident of sexual assault against minors, a class sixth girl was allegedly raped by a 45-year-old man in Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal. The accused raped the girl for the last six months. The incident was reported from Bhopal’s TT Nagar police station. According to reports, the incident came to light on Thursday when the girl was taken to a hospital after she complained of stomach ache. After the medical check, it was revealed that she was five months pregnant. After medical report confirmed pregnancy, relatives of the girl immediately lodged a complaint in TT Nagar police station, reported News18 Hindi. After the complaint, the police immediately arrested the accused. He has been identified as Shivraj Yadav and stays nearby girl’s home. The accused is a roadside vendor. In the complaint, the minor told police that the accused raped her for the first time in December last year after he called her at his home to take groundnuts. The victim further revealed that Yadav used to sexually assault her when nobody was at his home. He also threated the girl not to tell anybody.
In May this year also, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in a busy tourist spot in Bhopal. the girl’s body was found at Manuabhan, a popular tourist spot. Meanwhile, last year in April, the Centre had approved an ordinance to amend the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act to award death sentence to the rapists of children below the age of 12.
