Bhima Koregaon Case: Pune Police Files Chargesheet Against Surendra Gadling, Sudhir Dhawale and Three Other Activists
Pune Police filed a charge sheet against the five accused in the Bhima Koregaon violence case in Pune Sessions Court Today, reported ANI.
Pune, November 15: Pune Police filed a charge sheet against the five accused in the Bhima Koregaon violence case today in Pune Sessions Court, reported ANI. Nagpur-based lawyer Surendra Gadling, Sudhir Dhawale, Mahesh Raut, Shoma Sen, and Rona Wilson are among the accused by Pune police. In the charge sheet, it stated that 80 witnesses have been examined and the entire campaigning for Elgaar Parishad and speeches delivered at an event in Elgaar Parishad had aggravated Bhima Koregaon violence.
Earlier on November 2, the Pune sessions court had rejected the bail plea of Activist Shoma Sen. The police have arrested the accused in June for "Maoist links". The five accused were arrested for their involvement in Bhima Koregaon violence which emerged during the 200th anniversary of the Bhima Koregaon battle. Apart from them, five other activist- Lawyer Sudha Bhardwaj, poet Vara Vara Rao, activists Arun Ferreira, and Gautam Navlakha has also been put to home arrest since 29 August 2018 from their alleged in 2018 Bhima Koregaon incident. Earlier, In an affidavit, Maharashtra government told supreme court that the activists were "members of banned terrorist organisation Communist Party of India (Maoist)". The violence erupted due to the inference of Maratha groups in the Dalits gathering. In the conflicts, one person died and many were injured including 30 policemen.
