According to reports, a similar event had taken place in November 2017, where renowned chef Sanjeev Kapoor cooked 918 kg of khichdi at 'World Food India' festival organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in Delhi. Currently, it holds the record for the world's largest khichdi.
According to a report by ANI, the cooking of Khichdi during the rally today comes amidst the continuous allegations levelled by the Congress against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he has failed to address the needs of marginalised sections of the society. The Congress had said that the Prime Minister did not make enough efforts to uplift the Dalits in the country.
