Bengaluru, Sep 9: Schools and colleges in Bengaluru will remain shut on Monday in the wake of the Bharat Bandh called by the Congress over rising fuel prices and a decline in rupee value against the dollar. The Karnataka Government on Sunday declared a public holiday for all a government offices and educational institutions in Bengaluru as a precautionary measure ahead of Bandh tomorrow.

Normal life is going to take a hit as public transport, cinema theatres, multiplexes among others were expected to be shut. Reports inform that the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) workers' federation has extended their support to the nationwide protest on Monday.

The Congress claims that with the rise in prices of petroleum products, the government was trying to take money out of the common man’s pockets. According to a report by ANI, political leaders belonging to 21 political parties will be a part of the ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by the Congress on September 10. Among the parties who have extended their support to the Congress are The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Samajwadi Party (SP), among others.
