HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar while addressing the media appealed the protestors to stop agitation and ensured that they "will be given justice". Javadekar said that the Centre had never agreed to the Supreme Court's January decision which had upheld the new 13-point roster system.

New Delhi, March 5: A nationwide bandh has been called by the tribal and Dalit organisations across the country on Tuesday to protest against the Supreme Court order on their eviction from their habitat. According to reports, the organisations have called for a protest against a recent order by the top Court that might lead to mass-scale evictions of tribal and forest-dwelling families. The tribal groups are demanding that the Centre bring an ordinance to ensure their rights are protected.
The organisations said they will organise a march in Delhi from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar, demanding the restoration of Forests Rights Act. On February 13, the Supreme Court passed a judgment which asked all 16 states to execute the eviction of over 10 lakh tribals and other traditional forest dwellers whose claims had been dismissed under the Forest Rights Act. On February 28, a bench comprising Justices Arun Mishra, Naveen Sinha and MR Shah stayed the eviction order and directed the state governments to file affidavits providing details of the process adopted in rejecting the claims made by the Forest Dwelling Scheduled Tribes (FDSTs) and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (OTFDs). According to reports, the tribal organisations across states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and north-east have called for a peaceful bandh.
