New Delhi, January 8:  The Bharat bandh announced by the trade unions is expected to affect the day-to-day daily life today and workings as more than 25 crore people are expected to participate in the nationwide strike. Among other public institutions and bodies expected to remain closed on Wednesday due to the bandh, it is expected that several schools and educational institutes will also suspend operation on January 8. Close to 60 educational institutions which have affiliations with the trade unions participating in the bandh or strike which remain closed. Unions such as INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF and UTUC are participating in the bandh. However, they haven't announced which particular schools or colleges will be closed on Wednesday, January 8 due to the pan-India strike. It is understood that many schools and colleges across various cities will take a call if they need to cut short working hours depending upon the situation tomorrow, on the day of the strike. Also, educational institutes may announce a holiday if they sense the need for it on the day of the strike. It is to be noted that the workings of banks will be affected during the bandh as bankers are supporting the strike. Public transportation may also be hit at several places, said reports.
