Bharat Bandh on February 18: Traders Call For Nationwide Strike to Protest Against Pulwama Terror Attack
The bandh is organised to show solidarity of traders with the nation and families of the martyrs, said a statement by the trade body.
Bhubaneshwar, February 16: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has declared that they will organise a nationwide protest on February 18, Monday, to protest against the ghastly Pulwama terror attacks which resulted in the loss of 40 CRPF jawans in Pulwama, Awantipora. The traders' organisation has also made a call to all the states and cities to extend support to them in order to make it a truly 'Bharat Trade Bandh.' The Confederation of All India Traders press statement said that, “A strong sense of anger has grown among traders and citizens. The CAIT has decided to observe Bharat Trade Bandh on February 18 and no business activity will be held on that day. The bandh is organised to show solidarity of traders with the nation and families of the martyrs.” 18 States Including Maharashtra to Join the nationwide protest on February 18.
Similar demands were made on Friday in the state of Rajasthan as well. In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, traders in major markets observed a one-day bandh as a form of peaceful protest against the Pulwama terror attack. The nationwide outrage over the terror attack on Indian CRPF men on Thursday has not boiled down a bit as citizens and various civilian bodies organised protests across the country. At least 40 CRPF jawans were martyred and several others sustained serious injuries in the attack. An all party meeting was held in the parliament library today, Saturday, that condemned the attack and paid tribute to the martyrs. PM Narendra Modi said that the sacrifice of jawans will not go in vain and that Pakistan will have to pay a huge price. PM Modi also added that Army has been given a free hand now to deal with the terrorists.
