New Delhi, December 28: The police has arrested the sevadar (personal assistant) of Bhaiyyuji Maharaj, the godman who committed suicide on June 12, 2018. The police termed the arrest as a big breakthrough in the case. This arrest comes days after the police had arrested Bhaiyyuji Maharaj's driver, Kailash Patil, who informed police that Vinayak had run away with Rs 12 crores. The second page of the suicide note had revealed that his sprawling ashram and other vast properties were entitled to Vinayak. The second page read that, "Vinayak is my trusted man. I am delegating all my powers related to financial decisions, ashram and property to Vinayak. I am writing this without any pressure." However, after this arrest, the probability of police looking at the suicide note with fresh angle is possible. According to reports, The spiritual guru was a popular name among high profile politicians including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former president Pratibha Patil. Many political leaders reached him for advice in times of crisis.

He married twice and rumours also say that he may have committed suicide due to family problems. During his second marriage, he was also embroiled in controversy after a woman who claimed herself an actress, script-writer accused Bhaiyyuji Maharaj on her Facebook post of duping her. Reportedly he was also offered a ministry by Madhya Pradesh government, however, he denied the offer.
