Mumbai, June 23: Mumbai Police on Saturday busted a cricket betting racket in Mumbai’s Grant Road. The police arrested two bookies, betting on New Zealand and West Indies match. Eight mobile phones, one LCD TV and Rs 9470 cash were also seized. The police also recovered a register with information on betting, amounting to Rs 14 crore from the spot. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) ANC, Shivdeep Lande said, "After getting specific information regarding the cricket betting racket active for the ongoing cricket World Cup, our team raided the room number 203 of Hotel Balwas in Khetwadi Grant Road, Mumbai." The accused have been identified as Vishwas Kishan Takalkar and Ajay Kantraj. The 24-year-old Kantraj is a resident of Bengaluru. Earlier this week, four people were apprehended in Thane for betting during New Zealand vs South Africa World cup match. The four arrested were identified Jitu Manglani (35), Pradip Rohera (40), Manish Chetwani (36) and Dileep Mishra (38). Several accessories have been seized in the raid by Thane police.
