In a shocking development, a 36-year-old woman was tied to a pole in Kodigehalli area of Bengaluru on Thursday. The woman, identified as Rajamma, was allegedly thrashed by the villagers as she had cheated them of Rs 12 lakh.
Bengaluru, June 14: In a shocking development, a 36-year-old woman was tied to a pole in Kodigehalli area of Bengaluru on Thursday. The woman, identified as Rajamma, was allegedly thrashed by the villagers as she had cheated them of Rs 12 lakh. Police have arrested seven people in connection with the incident and rescued Rajamma. According to reports, the woman, a resident of Kollegal in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district, settled down in Kodigehalli a few years back. She allegedly took a loan from several villagers and started a hotel. But she suffered losses and didn't return the money. When lenders asked her for the money, she fled from the village some months ago.
Woman tied to pole for not returning money:
According to police, some of the villagers came to know that she was in Dharmasthala and traced her on Wednesday. She was brought back to Kodigehalli on Thursday. The lenders as well as villagers tied her to the pole and assaulted her, police said. Meanwhile, a case has been registered and a probe has been launched into the matter.
