Bengaluru, November 5: In a tragic incident, a 20-year-old man, allegedly drunk, killed a 30-year-old woman after he rammed his father's new Mercedes-Benz into her in Bengaluru's Kengeri. The victim, Sandhya AS, was crossing the road near the Kengeri Traffic Transit Management Centre when the luxury vehicle, driven by the accused, lost control and struck her at high speed. The driver, identified as Dhanush Paramesh, attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by bystanders.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, the accident occurred around 6:45 PM, with a report indicating that Sandhya was flung approximately 10 feet from the point of impact due to the force of the collision, suffering severe head injuries and multiple fractures. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, she was declared dead on arrival. Dhanush, who was found to have a blood alcohol level of 177 mg per 100 ml, significantly exceeding the permissible limit of 30 mg, was later taken into custody by the police. The Hindustan Times reported that Dhanush is the son of a businessman who owns a local travel agency. It is alleged that he had been drinking with a friend at a mall before deciding to take the new Mercedes-Benz for a drive. His reckless behaviour not only resulted in Sandhya's death but also left another individual, Syed Arbaz, injured after Dhanush's vehicle collided with his motorcycle following the initial crash. The police have filed multiple charges against him, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Sandhya, a married woman who worked as a business partner at Deepa Fashion in Kengeri, was on her way home when the fatal accident occurred. Family members of the victim alleged that they were not informed of the incident until several hours later, around 9:15 PM, when police traced Sandhya through her Aadhaar card.
