Bengaluru, September 24: In the early hours of Friday, a 23-year-old MBA student and his friend were going back home after celebrating the former's birthday when their sports bike slammed the road median on the Yeshwantpur flyover. D Nikhil, a resident of RMV Extension in Sanjayanagar and the son of Dhanamjay M, vice-chancellor of Reva University, died, as did his companion and pillion rider Manamohan V, 31, of Banashankari II Stage.
The collision occurred at 3.50 am, when Nikhil, who turned 23 on Friday, was riding a BMW motorcycle he bought in July, according to his relatives.
Nikhil celebrated his birthday with his family by cutting a cake at midnight before going out with friends. According to Polie, the bike skidded off the road before colliding with the median. The pair was pulled for more than 100 metres. "As they fell, their heads collided with the road, causing serious injuries," an officer explained. Previously, a 35-year-old man died in a bike accident in the Vizianagaram area. The victim, DS Naidu, was going home after purchasing groceries when the tragedy happened. A case has been filed in the matter. In other incidents, a snatcher died in a motorbike accident while fleeing a heist, a tanker carrying sulfuric acid ran off the road and a guy died in a bike-SUV collision. Prior to this, in Bhopal, a 39-year-old man died after his motorbike collided with a stray cattle on the road. The man suffered serious injuries and died in the hospital while being treated. The incident occurred at night, and the livestock could not be found later. The police have opened an inquiry and have lodged a case in the matter.
