Bangalore, July 4: Bengaluru Traffic police are holding talks with cab aggregators Ola and Uber regarding the parking of cabs in the area with higher traffic. On Friday, ACP (Traffic) Siddalingappa ST met OLA and Uber officials and discussed several policy-related issues including the parking problem. This development comes in the wake of Karnataka Transport Department's decision to ban sharing taxi services. Ola Cabs Banned by Karnataka Govt; License Revoked For Six Months.
“There was a discussion on a proposal where Ola and Uber would have to provide parking spaces for their cabs in commercial areas like CBD, Koramangala, Jayanagar and the like. We have also discussed various passenger-safety issues and have asked Ola and Uber to give us an action-taken report,” ACP was quoted saying by The News Minute.
This move is to reduce the congestion on the roads, mainly in the commercials areas where the traffic is a big issue due to high vehicles count. Currently, there are no rules set up for cab aggregators on parking. Sometimes, parked vehicle alongside the roads becomes a problem for pedestrians as well as other vehicles to move. Meanwhile, an Ola spokesperson speaking to TNM said, that the company has introduced share taxi service to fight vehicular congestion, which was recently banned by Karnataka Transport Department
