Bengaluru, September 13: In a tragic incident, a 20-year-old student, Ayyappa, reportedly took his own life on Wednesday, September 11, after his mother refused to buy him a new bike. The victim's mother, who has been the family's sole breadwinner since the death of his father six years ago, provided for them by working as a housekeeper.

According to a report by Free Press Journal, The student who tragically died was studying in Bengaluru after relocating from Tamil Nadu. Reports indicate he was a second-year B.Sc. student at a private university in the city. The deceased student had been asking his mother for a bike for several months, influenced by the fact that all his friends used bikes to get to college.  The student had been persistently asking his mother for a bike, as he was keen to join his friends who all rode bikes to college. Unfortunately, his mother, constrained by limited financial resources, could not immediately fulfil his request and asked him to wait. Unbeknownst to him, she had managed to arrange for the bike, having secured Rs 50,000 for it. On the fateful day, the student was alone at home when his mother left for work at 6 a.m. By the time she returned at 4:30 p.m., she discovered her son hanging from the ceiling. The body was subsequently taken to Ambedkar Hospital for a postmortem examination. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they emerge.
