Bengaluru, September 14: Bengaluru police have arrested 29-year-old Pavitra Suresh and her 20-year-old boyfriend, Lovlish, in connection with the murder of Pavitra's mother, 46-year-old Jayalakshmi. The two allegedly conspired to kill Jayalakshmi and attempted to cover up the crime by portraying it as an accidental death.
According to a report in The Hindu, the incident occurred on Wednesday in Hongasandra, where Pavitra initially told police that her mother had slipped in the bathroom, leading to unconsciousness. However, the postmortem report, received on Friday, revealed that Jayalakshmi had been smothered and strangled, contradicting Pavitra's story and pointing to foul play. Upon questioning, Pavitra confessed to conspiring with her boyfriend to kill her mother.
The investigation revealed that the murder was planned after Jayalakshmi discovered Pavitra and Lovlish's secret relationship.
Despite her mother's warnings, Pavitra continued the affair. Feeling threatened by Jayalakshmi's disapproval, Pavitra and Lovlish allegedly decided to kill her.
Pavitra, who has been married for 11 years and lives with her husband and two children, runs a provision store near her mother's house. Lovlish, who rented a room from Jayalakshmi, frequented the store, and the relationship developed over the past year.
