Udupi, July 6: A 55-year-old nursery school teacher has been booked under the Pocso Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in Anwar Layout, Venkateswarapura. The complaint was filed by the parents of the minor on Thursday, according to a senior police officer.

According to The New Indian Express, the parents said their daughter, who started attending the private nursery school on June 6, began refusing to attend school after 10 days. When questioned, the child complained of pain in her private parts and later disclosed the teacher’s actions. According to the report, the father submitted medical treatment records to the police, indicating that the girl was taken to the hospital at 6 pm on July 3. Due to the medico-legal nature of the case, the hospital reported the incident to the police. Kadugondanahalli police inspector Rahim Patel confirmed that the teacher, who has been working at the nursery school for seven years and has no prior criminal background, has been booked under the Pocso Act. The police have obtained a medical report from the doctors, and the child is now in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
