Bengaluru, November 8: In a shocking incident in Iggalur village near Bengaluru, a mother filed a missing complaint after her one-month-old daughter was found dead in an overhead water tank. Archita, the mother of the infant, initially claimed that the baby went missing while she was in the bathroom. However, during police interrogation, Archita confessed that the baby had died accidentally in her lap after being given medication. Fearing blame from her husband and family, she hid the body in the water tank and fabricated a kidnapping story.
According to the Indian Express report, Archita stated that after briefly stepping away to the bathroom, she returned to find her baby gone. A frantic search ensued, involving her husband, Manu and her father, Murali, who both attempted to locate the infant. It was not until Murali suggested checking the overhead water tank that the baby’s lifeless body was discovered floating inside. Following the discovery, the Surya City police, as reported by The Hindu, began investigating the case with suspicion of foul play. Initially, the authorities considered the possibility of kidnapping or even murder, as the circumstances surrounding the baby's disappearance were unclear. The police interrogated the family and reviewed CCTV footage from the area. During their questioning, Archita’s statement began to unravel, leading her to confess that the infant had died on her lap shortly after consuming medication for her respiratory issues. According to a report from Times of India, the baby began to froth at the mouth and passed away in her lap. Fearing that her husband’s family would blame her for the death, Archita decided to hide the body in the water tank, fabricating a story to avoid any blame. The police are now awaiting the post-mortem and forensic reports to confirm the exact cause of death to corroborate her confession.
