On Monday evening, in their Shastrinagar residence, 19-year-old Sahitya was fatally stabbed by her 60-year-old mother, Padmaja, during a heated exchange, The New Indian Express reported. The conflict reportedly stemmed from long-standing disagreements over Sahitya's academic struggles. Padmaja, a widow who had sold her late husband's company to finance her daughter's education, harboured high hopes for Sahitya's success. The altercation escalated following the recent PU exam results, culminating in the tragic event where both mother and daughter inflicted stab wounds on each other. Sahitya succumbed to her injuries, while Padmaja suffered liver damage and is currently receiving intensive care. The police have charged Padmaja with murder, and she awaits further questioning as she recovers in the ICU. On March 17, a 24-year-old woman allegedly killed her two-year-old daughter and attempted to die by suicide in Bengaluru over a domestic fight and bad health condition. The incident took place at Seegehalli in KR Puram police limits. The child was identified as Shrutika, the daughter of Lakshminarayan (31) and Chinna (24).
When Lakshminarayan went out to pay a visit to the temple, Chinna strangled her daughter and tried to die by suicide. Before trying to die by suicide, she called her mother, who in turn informed Lakshminarayan over the phone. Lakshminarayan rushed home and broke open the door as it was locked from inside.
