Bengaluru, November 9: In a shocking incident, a school teacher allegedly struck a class 6 student with a wooden stick, causing him to lose a tooth. The incident occurred on Thursday, November 7, when the student and his classmates were playfully spraying water on each other during lunch break. Some of the water splashed on Azmath, the Hindi teacher, causing her to become enraged. In retaliation, she reportedly hit the boy with a wooden roll, resulting in a broken tooth. The boy’s father has filed a complaint, and the teacher has been booked under relevant sections of the law, while the school management has also filed a counter-complaint.
According to the Times of India report, the altercation began when the students filled glue tubes with water and started spraying it during their break. As the water splashed onto the teacher, Azmath reportedly grew angry and allegedly struck the student on the face with the wooden stick. The boy’s father later learned of the incident and visited the school, where authorities issued an apology. However, unsatisfied with the response, he decided to file a police complaint, prompting a formal investigation. In response, the school management, as reported by the Deccan Herald, has filed a counter-complaint against the boy’s father, accusing him of misbehaving with the teacher and causing a disturbance on campus. The school claims that the father’s version of events is exaggerated and that the boy's injury occurred when he tried to escape the teacher’s reprimand, allegedly running into a table. The management insists that Azmath did not strike the student intentionally but instead raised a broken scale to threaten him. Bengaluru Shocker: Woman Alleges Sexual Harassment by Bicycle Rider.
After investigating the case, the police seized the wooden stick, which was wrapped with cellophane tape, and booked Azmath under various sections, including provisions related to juvenile safety and causing grievous harm. While the teacher is not facing immediate arrest due to the nature of the charges, police are continuing their probe into the incident. Authorities are also looking into the school’s role in handling the situation and whether adequate measures were taken to prevent such incidents.
