Udupi, August 7: In a significant move to enhance the nightlife of Silicon City, the Karnataka government has issued an order extending the operating hours for hotels, shops, bars, and licensed establishments in Bengaluru. According to the order issued by the Urban Development Department on July 29, these establishments within the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits can now remain open until 1:00 am daily. This decision fulfils a promise made by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in his 2024-2025 budget speech. The Chief Minister announced that shops and establishments in Bengaluru and 10 other corporation areas would be allowed to operate until 1:00 am to boost trade and commerce. The notification specifies that clubs, hotels, bars, and restaurants in Bengaluru can serve food and liquor until 1:00 am daily. The extended hours apply to various license holders, including CL-4 (clubs), CL-6(A) (star hotels), CL-7 (hotels and boarding houses), and CL-7D (hotels and boarding houses owned by Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes). These establishments can operate from 9:00 am to 1:00 am. Additionally, those with a CL-9 (refreshment room (bar)) license can operate from 10:00 am to 1:00 am.
