Bengaluru, November 13: In a tragic incident in Bengaluru, a 52-year-old man was crushed to death after the sensors of an elevator failed to detect his presence as he entered. Lakshman Pramanik, a gold artisan, was attempting to board the lift at HJS Chambers on Richmond Road when its doors began closing, trapping him between the doors and the shaft wall. Despite his attempts to escape, the lift began moving upwards, leaving him stuck in a harrowing position for over an hour. Rescue teams arrived, but Pramanik succumbed to his injuries later at a nearby hospital.
According to a report by The Times of India, the incident took place around 12:30 pm on Tuesday. Pramanik, who had been working at the building for 26 years, was heading to the first floor from the ground floor when the lift doors started closing. As he attempted to enter, the door sensors failed to respond, trapping him between the closing doors and the lift shaft. He was trapped as the lift began its ascent, with half of his body inside the elevator and the other half stuck outside, pressed against the shaft wall.
