Mumbai, September 6: A court in Bengaluru recently convicted a woman and her live-in partner for allegedly branding her two minor daughters in the city. After convicting the two accused, the court sentenced them to five years in jail. The incident came to light when a few local residents of RR Nagar in Bengaluru saw the two minor girls being harassed by the woman's partner and immediately alerted the police. Later, the locals also deposed against the woman and her partner.

As per a report in the Times of India, the two minor girls, aged seven and six, were reportedly harassed by the woman's partner. After being arrested in April 2021, the court heard the case. While announcing the sentence, special judge KN Roopa sentenced the woman and her partner to five years of rigorous imprisonment. Notably, the accused were in judicial custody at the Central Prison, Bengaluru, when the court passed the judgment on September 2. The incident occurred on April 1, 2021, when local residents called the police control room. The residents told cops that two minor girls were allegedly branded and injured by their mother's friend. Cops also said that the girls were sent by the accused to buy cigarettes for him.

Cops also said that when the girls complained to their father, he asked his wife to leave the man, which she refused. However, this did not go well with the man who used a heated knife and branded it all over the minor girl's bodies. The public prosecutor told the court that there were bite marks too on the girl's bodies.
