Bengaluru, October 23: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered his own daughter for eloping with a Dalit boy at Doctors Layout in Naganathapura. The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, October 21. The accused, after killing his daughter, surrendered before the police. A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to a report by the Times of India, the accused was identified as Ganesha (50), a resident of Kalihundi in HD Kote in Mysuru. The accused also struck his wife and brother-in-law, who came to save the deceased girl. The accused later surrendered before the Parappana Agrahara police later in the evening. As per the reports, the deceased girl was identified as Pallavi. The injured people were identified as Ganesha's wife, Sharadha and Shantha Kumar, husband of Sharadha's sister Geetha. As per the reports, the deceased girl, Pallavi, belonged to the Gowda community. She was studying PU in HD Kote and was said to be in love with a boy from Scheduled Caste. The boy worked in a shop in HD Kote. They both were friends from their school days, the report added. The accused left Pallavi in the care of Geetha. On October 14, Pallavi fled Geetha's residence and eloped with her boyfriend. However, the police traced and returned her to Geetha's house on October 20.

The accused visited Geetha's house on Saturday, October 21, and told Pallavi that she had tarnished his reputation after she eloped with a boy from the lower caste. Ganesha then started an argument with his wife, Shraddha, and blamed her for not keeping a watch on their daughter. He then picked up a machete and attacked Pallivi, inflicting injuries on her neck and head. The accused, on his way out, bumped into Kumar, Geetha's husband and accused him of not keeping watch on his daughter. He attacked Kumar as well before approaching the Parappana Agrahara police station, where he surrendered. The injured are undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital and are out of danger, the doctors said.
