Bengaluru, September 24: In a shocking development, the estranged husband of Mahalakshmi, the Bengaluru woman whose dismembered body was discovered in a fridge, has alleged that his wife was involved in an illicit affair and that her lover might be behind the gruesome murder, a report said. On September 22, Karnataka Police recovered the body of 29-year-old Mahalakshmi from her one-room flat in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval area. Her body had been chopped into 30 pieces and stored in a refrigerator.
According to a report published by India Today, Hemant Das, Mahalakshmi’s husband, revealed to the media that he suspects a man named Ashraf, hailing from Uttarakhand, to be involved in the crime. Das mentioned that he had previously filed a complaint against Ashraf at the Nelamangala police station, which led to a mandate preventing Ashraf from entering Bengaluru. “I suspect one man called Ashraf. I filed a complaint against him at the Nelamangala police station once. Post the complaint, it was mandated that he must not come to Bengaluru. Das and Mahalakshmi were married for six years and have a daughter. However, they began living separately nine months ago due to domestic disputes. Das claimed that he became aware of Mahalakshmi’s affair with Ashraf, who works at a barber shop, around April or May 2023.
