According to a report published by News18, Mukti and Mahalakshmi were colleagues. Mukti was reportedly against the idea of Mahalakshmi getting close to another man, the report said, citing sources. Mahalakshmi, a 29-year-old saleswoman, was found dismembered in her Malleshwaram apartment on September 21. Her body, chopped into over 50 pieces, was discovered in a refrigerator, sending shock waves through the country. On Monday, September 24, Mahalakshmi’s estranged husband had pointed fingers at Ashraf, whom he claimed was her lover. However, police sources have now focused their investigation on Mukti, whose phone has been switched off. Efforts are underway to trace him near the Odisha-West Bengal border.

New details have surfaced in the investigation of Mahalakshmi's brutal murder. Reports indicate that Mahalakshmi, a 29-year-old saleswoman, last reported to work on September 1. Her family members stated that her mobile phone had been switched off since September 2. The horrifying discovery of her dismembered body was made by her mother and elder sister on September 21 at her Malleshwaram apartment. The post-mortem report confirmed that her body had been chopped into 59 pieces.
In a bid to uncover more about the circumstances of her death, samples of Mahalakshmi's intestine have been sent for a toxicology study to determine if she was poisoned. Additionally, forensic experts are examining fingerprints found on the refrigerator where her body parts were stored.
