Bengaluru: BMTC Buses to Operate its Services From Wednesday For General Public, Face Masks Mandatory

Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) on Tuesday said that it will start its operations for the general public from Wednesday, July 21. BMTC buses will operate 1,500 services in Bangalore city on major routes between 6 am and 8 pm, except in containment zones. Face masks are mandatory to travel on BMTC buses.

Bengaluru, July 21: Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) on Tuesday said that it will start its operations for the general public from Wednesday, July 21. Earlier in the day, Karnataka government decided to not extend COVID-19 lockdown in Bengaluru. The major decision was taken to restart economic activities in the city. "There'll be no lockdown from tomorrow, people need to get back to work, the economy is also very important. We have to fight COVID-19 while maintaining a stable economy. Lockdown is not the solution, now restrictions will be placed only in containment zones," Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa said.

During the press conference, the Chief Minister blamed other states for the rise in coronavirus cases in Karnataka. "People who came from Maharastra and Tamil Nadu added to the COVID-19 cases in Karnataka, Experts have suggested a 5T strategy- Trace, Track, Test, Treat and Technology," Yediyurappa said.
