Karnataka, July 24: The Bengaluru Commissioner of Police, Alok Kumar has withdrawn the ban on the sale of liquor from 6 pm today, according to an ANI update. On Tuesday, in view of the political situation in the state, all the “bars, pubs and wine shops” were shut for 48 hours till July 25. Section 144 was imposed across the state on Tuesday due to the political instability in the state. Section 144 prohibits the assembly of four or more people, has been imposed across state capital Bengaluru. The 14-month-old Congress JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka fell after its defeat on the floor of the Assembly forcing Kumaraswamy to resign. Immediately after the defeat, Kumaraswamy rushed to Governor Vajubhai Vala and submitted his resignation.

After the headcount, speaker KR Ramesh said after the headcount, said, "HD Kumaraswamy has failed the confidence vote, with 99 voting for the government while 105 members have voted against the government,”
BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa announced on Tuesday that he will meet Governor Vajubhai Vala to stake his claim to form the government in Karnataka after consulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
