Lucknow, August 27: In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh, a man who found an abandoned day-old baby girl allegedly sold the child to a childless couple in Bareilly. Police officials said that the man sold the girl child to a couple in Thiriya Nizakat Khan area of Bareilly for INR 25,000. They also said that the child was sold to a couple identified as Nisha Begum (38) and her husband, Maisar Ali (40).

According to a report in the The Times of India, the incident came to light when a guest alerted the police about the incident. Soon after, cops arrived at the couple's home, who had thrown a feast on Sunday, August 25, to celebrate the arrival of the new family member. They also said that the girl child was critically ill with a blood infection when they rescued her. Further investigation revealed the name of the man who found the abandoned child. Kausar Ali, who found the girl child decided to sell the child to the couple instead of reporting the incident. The police are also scanning CCTV footage of the area to identify the person who abandoned the baby.

Jagnarayan Singh, SHO of Cantonment police station, said that an FIR will be registered against the unidentified persons for the heinous act. Meanwhile, it is learnt that the child is undergoing treatment at a hospital and her condition is being monitored. In a separate incident, a 28-year-old woman was allegedly found dead in a hotel in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly recently. Cops said that the body of the unidentified woman was found inside a room of the hotel located near the bus stand.
