Bareilly, August 15: In a tragic incident in Bareilly’s Shivpuri Ratheni village, an 18-month-old toddler died on Sunday, August 11, after a circumcision ceremony went fatally wrong. During the procedure, the barber accidentally cut the wrong artery, leading to severe bleeding. Initially, the barber dismissed the bleeding as normal, but the situation quickly escalated, and the child was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. The UP police booked the barber.
The barber, Kabir Khan, accidentally severed the wrong artery, causing severe bleeding. Kabir assured the family that the bleeding would stop, leading them to believe it was normal. Despite rushing to the hospital, the toddler was declared dead upon arrival. An FIR was filed against Kabir Khan at the Fatehganj East police station on Monday, August 12. The toddler's father stated that Kabir was responsible for his son's death and that they had lodged a complaint against him. The police assured them that strict action would be taken. Authorities have classified the incident as culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and the barber is expected to be arrested soon, according to officials. A study by Standford Medicine suggests bleeding is a common complication of circumcision. Normally, only a few drops of blood are lost, which can be managed with a small gauze pad. Excessive bleeding is a problem. If the frenular artery is bleeding, pressure and gel foam might not be enough, and a small "figure of eight" suture may be needed. Care must be taken when clamping or suturing near the urethra to avoid damaging the tissue or causing a fistula.
