Patna, October 22: A recent case of liquor smuggling in prohibitioned Bihar has left police stunned. In a bizarre incident, police in Bihar's Banka district arrested a physically challenged man who was smuggling alcohol by hiding bottles in his prosthetic leg. The incident occurred during routine vehicle checks near Guria Turn on the Hansdiha-Bhagalpur main road, close to the Jharkhand border.

According to the report published by News18, the accused, identified as Mahesh Kumar Lal from Ishakchak in Bhagalpur district, was riding a scooty when his nervous demeanour caught the attention of the police. Physically-Challenged Man Smuggles Alcohol by Concealing Bottles in Prosthetic Leg

A thorough inspection revealed that Lal's plastic artificial leg contained several bottles of foreign liquor, ingeniously concealed within. Lal confessed to using his prosthetic leg to smuggle alcohol from Jharkhand to Bhagalpur, successfully evading police for an extended period.

Police Find Another 15 Bottles in His Scooty

Further examination of Lal's scooty uncovered an additional 15 bottles of illicit alcohol hidden in a compartment under the vehicle. In another incident, a sub-inspector of Bihar Police was arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia for allegedly smuggling liquor, news agency PTI reported. Additional Superintendent of Police (South) Kripa Shankar said, "Ballia city Kotwali police apprehended Ravi Kishan Parashar, a Sub-inspector of Bihar Police, near Yamuna Dam Chaabi Ghat, carrying a large quantity of illegal Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer in his car."

The total quantity of seized liquor was 121.60 litres, police said. Consumption and sale of alcohol is banned in Bihar, making smuggling a lucrative activity, police said.
