If you are living in Mumbai, Pune, Ambala, Kurukshetra or anywhere in Maharashtra and Haryana, then note that the banks would be open for only three days this week. In the rest of the country, banking operations are likely to be shut on Tuesday, October 22.

Mumbai, October 20: Banking services may be hampered this week due to assembly elections 2019, bank strike and holidays. If you are living in Mumbai, Pune, Ambala, Kurukshetra or anywhere in Maharashtra and Haryana, then note that the banks would be closed on Monday. As per Election Commission of India's directions, the Reserve Bank of India has declared holidays on the date of voting. Therefore, on October 21, the banks in Maharashtra and Haryana will be shut as the two states are going to polls. The banking services will be normal for the rest of the country.

On Tuesday, October 24, two bank unions have warned they will go on 24-hour long strike protesting the recent mergers and fall in deposit rates. If the strike by the All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA) and the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) is successful, then banking transactions operations could be hit all over the country.

Saturday will be a bank holiday as the banks are shut on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Sunday, which is also Diwali festival, is a weekly holiday. On Monday, the bank will reopen in most of the country. The RBI, however, has declared it a holiday in Mumbai citing celebrations related to Dipawali.
