Bank Executive Ventures Into River To Urinate, Drowns
The incident took place when Prahlad Varvatkar and his friends went to urinate in the river.
Navi Mumbai, May 19: A 23-year-old man, who was a bank executive by profession, drowned after he ventured into the Savitri river to urinate. The incident took place when Prahlad Varvatkar and his friends went to urinate in the river in Poladpur Taluka of Raigad on Friday. A case of accidental death was reported following the incident.
Prahlad, a resident of Shivaji Nagar-Govandi, went to attend a wedding along with his eight friends. The group went to urinate in the river when Prahlad fell in the river pit and drowned, Times of India reported. "On Friday around 3.15 pm we went to the river but Varvatkar fell and drowned," Akshay Mhaskar, one of the people in the group, said.
Prahlad had joined a private bank over six months ago as an executive in Mumbai, Mahendra Ringe, who knows him, was quoted as saying. "An accidental death case has been registered. The body was fished out by locals around 3:30 pm," constable Niket Warade said. The last rites of Prahlad were performed at his native place in Poladpur.
