Babul Supriyo Assures Mother of Jadavpur University Student Who Attacked Him: 'Won't Harm Your Son'
A day after Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Babul Supriyo posted a picture of a young man pulling his hair at Jadavpur University, he assured the mother of the accused that he will not harm him in any way. The woman Supriyo referred to was Rupali Ballav, a cancer patient and the mother of Debanjan Ballav Chatterjee.

"Don't worry Aunty - I'll won't do any harm to your son. I want him to learn from his mistakes. I have neither filed an FIR nor let anyone do so. Shed your worries and get well soon. On Friday, Supriyo was heckled at Jadavpur University. "This is the guy who led the assault in #JadavpurUniversity .. we will find him out and then see what @MamataOfficial does to him in terms of charging him for assault without ANY PROVOCATION whatsoever from our/my side,” Supriyo had tweeted with the picture of the attacker.

After the tweet went viral, Debanjan Chatterjee's mother, who was undergoing cancer treatment for three years, made an appeal asking people to pardon her son. Debanjan is a second-year student of Sanskrit College.
On Thursday, the Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change was shown black flags and heckled by a group of students at Kolkata's Jadavpur University. Supriyo had reached there to address a seminar organised by the student wing of RSS- the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
