Mathura, September 3: Three girls from Muzaffarpur in Bihar were found dead on a railway track near Bajna Bridge in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, four days after they went missing. The three girls were later identified as three friends and students of ninth standard, who allegedly set off on a spiritual quest to the Himalayas.

The parents of the three girls identified them as Gauri Kumari (14), Mohini Kumari (14) and Maya Kumari (13). They claimed that the girls had left their homes on May 13, 2024, after leaving a note mentioning the reason for their departure. Gauri's father, Amit Rajk, told The Times of India that his daughter and Maya had left a note behind before leaving, mentioning where they were headed and when they would return.

The note read as, "Baba has called. Going to the Himalayas for a spiritual quest. We will return home after three months on Aug 13." Adding to this, the girls cautioned their families against searching for them or else they would attempt suicide. The parents approached the local police, but as per Rajk, the Bihar police allegedly ignored the case until higher authorities got involved. He stated, "The local police did not take any action after we reported the girls' disappearance on the same day. They registered a case only after senior authorities got involved." However, denying this allegation, the Station House Officer of Muzaffarpur police station said that they registered the case immediately, and a search was initiated for the girls. After the bodies were found in Mathura, the police informed the three families. Muzaffarpur Shocker: Woman Kills Boyfriend After He Leaks Her Explicit Video in Bihar, 1 Arrested.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT), under the city Superintendent of Police Awadesh Dixit, was set up to oversee the investigations. During the inquiry launched by the Mathura police, nothing on the railway tracks could identify the girls. After assuming it was a mother-daughter group who committed suicide, the police relayed the information to other police stations until the parents identified the bodies.

However, Gauri's mother pointed out that she didn't have mehndi on her hands when she left home, but it was found on her hands and on her friends' hands. The mobile phones of the girls were also missing and remain unrecovered yet. Further investigation is on in the case.
