Rampur, July 31: Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament (MP) Azam Khan's son Abdullah has been released from the police custody on a personal bond on Wednesday. He was arrested from Mohammad Ali Jauhar University (MAJU) in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur. Abdullah was detained earlier for obstructing search operation at the university. On Tuesday, the cops had carried out searches in Jauhar University and recovered over 100 expensive books allegedly stolen from other institutes in the city. SP Ajal Pal Sharma along with his team and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) officials searched the institute for more than three hours. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered claiming that many expensive books and manuscripts were stolen from Madrasa Aliya and other institutions in Rampur. Four library workers were detained by police for questioning.
On Wednesday, the police again reached the Mumtaz Central Library to continue searches. However, Abdullah Khan tried to prevent the searches, while led to an altercation and Azam Khan's son was taken into custody.
