Ramgarh, June 2: One of the tallest Samajwadi Party leader and Ramgarh Member of Parliament (MP) Azam Khan on Sunday said that he is thinking of quitting his MP post and contest in next assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Speaking to media, Khan said that there are no basic amenities in Ramgarh. "No doctors or health facilities are here. We're running a hospital and there can be attempts to dismantle it," he said. "Barrage should be constructed, its construction is pending. I am thinking of quitting from Parliament and contesting the state assembly elections. It is possible that I will contest in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha elections," Azam Khan said while speaking to media. In 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, he defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Jaya Prada from Ramgarh Lok Sabha seat. The Samajwadi leader was doing a press conference after a First Information Report (FIR) was reportedly registered against him for interfering in government work and occupying the public property for Mohammad Ali Jauhar University (MAJU).
Refusing all the charges, Azam Khan said, "Whatever has happened is not hidden from everyone. To remove me from the state, all types of efforts have been made... There was an attempt to kill me. My license was cancelled. Also, there was a conspiracy to kill me in an encounter by putting serious allegations on me... Newspapers have written that among all the winning MPs, I am number one and the biggest criminal MP because there are maximum cases against me."
