Mumbai, December 27: The Mumbai Police on Friday issued a traffic advisory ahead of agitation against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) at Azad Maidan. The traffic restrictions will in force from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm today. Hundreds of police personnel will also be deployed around the ground to maintain law and order. After being denied permission for a protest march on Friday against CAA, NRC and NPR from Byculla to CSMT, the demonstrations will take place at Azad Maidan. The protest, called "inquilab morcha", is expected to witness participation by students of Jamia Millia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, IIT Bombay, Mumbai University and Tata Institute of Social Sciences along with ordinary citizens. To ensure smooth flow of traffic, Mumbai police has issued a traffic advisory.

Road Closed for Vehicular Traffic

Mahapalika Marg (both bounds) from its Junction CSMT to Metro Junction shall be closed for vehicular traffic, except Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance, other government establishment vehicles, local resident and emergency service providing the vehicle.

Diverted Route

Mahapalika Marg (North Bound)- Vehicles moving towards Metro Junction shall move straight forward towards DN road-JJ School of Art-CP Office Corner- Left Turn-via LT Marg and shall proceed further for their journey.

Mahapalika Marg (South Bound)- Vehicle moving towards CSMT Junction shall move straight towards MG Road-Bombay Gym-OCS Junction-Left Turn-via Hazarimal Somani Marg shall proceed further for their journey.

The protesters are demanding that the central government should revoke citizenship law and discontinue NRC and NPR. They also want the Maharashtra government to give assurance that NRC and NRC won't be implemented in the state.
