New Delhi, November 9: Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board, one of the main parties from the Muslim side, on Saturday said that it won't file a review petition on the Supreme Court's judgment in the Ayodhya case. Zafar Farooqui, chairman of UP Sunni Central Waqf Board, issued a statement saying the outfit welcomes the Ayodhya verdict delivered by the Supreme Court. Ayodhya Verdict Quotes: From PM Narendra Modi to Amit Shah and Other Key Leaders, Who Said What on the Supreme Court Judgment.

"I, as chairman of UP Sunni Central Waqf Board, want to make it clear that U.P Sunni Central Waqf Board (UPSCWB) will not go in any review of the Apex Court's order or file any curative petition, hence any statement in this regard by any individual, lawyer or organisation which mentions that U.P Sunni Central Waqf Board will go in reviews is not our line," read his statement. Highlights of the Supreme Court Judgement in the Ayodhya Case.

The five-judge Supreme Court bench ordered that the disputed Ayodhya land must be given to Hindus for a temple, to be built at the site by a trust formed under the control of the Central government. The apex court also ordered that the Sunni Waqf Board should be given an alternate five-acre land at some other suitable place for construction of a mosque.

"We are grateful to the Honourable Supreme Court for setting aside as 'erroneous' the observation of one of the Honourable Judges of the Allahabad High Court (2010), which diluted the provisions of the Places of Worship Act 1991," Zafar Farooqui added.

With more dissenting voices coming forward against the verdict, All India Muslim Personal Law Board Executive Member Kamal Farooqui told IANS it was contemplating filing a review petition after studying the judgement. "This judgement is based on faith, not facts. The apex court used Article 142, which gives it special powers. We did not demand land for land. But you gave us five acres of land in exchange for 67 acres," Farooqui said.
