Lucknow, November 21: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind, a body of top Muslim clerics of India, passed a resolution on Thursday on filing a review petition against the Supreme Court's Ayodhya verdict. The Jamiat would also be furthering its legal battle to claim custody of mosques managed by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI), the resolution said. Jamiat's revered leader Maulana Arshad Madani, who is also an office-bearer of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), had last week voiced his opinion in favour of filing a review plea. While noting that only a remote chance exists of their plea yielding positive results, Madani said that the Shariat or the Islamic law compels them to exercise even the final remedy to save a mosque.
