Lucknow, November 12: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday met top Sunni and Shia clerics in Lucknow. During his interaction, he assured them the safety of minorities in the state. He said that action would be taken against anyone who would harm the minorities. All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) member Salman Nadvi termed the meeting as a positive gesture by the CM. He suggested that a university, along with a mosque should be constructed at the five-acre land allocated by the Supreme Court.

On Monday reports surfaced that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) initiated the process to set up a trust that will take over construction of a Ram temple at the disputed land. The MHA is also in touch with the Ministry of Law and the Attorney General in connection with setting up the trust for construction of a Ram temple.

The five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi on Saturday pronounced the verdict in the communally and politically sensitive Ayodhya land dispute case. The Supreme Court handed over the disputed land in Ayodhya to Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas for the construction of a Ram Temple. The top court asked the government to form a trust for starting the construction. The apex court also directed the government to allocate five-acre land in Ayodhya for the construction of a mosque.
