New Delhi, October 18: In the latest development, Sunni Waqf board on Friday rejected reports of settlement in the Ayodhya land dispute case. Advocate for Sunni Waqf Board Ejaz Maqbool in Supreme Court issued a press release and denied reports of settlement on Ayodhya issue before the mediation panel. Earlier in the day, six Muslim parties hit out at the Sunni Waqf Board over the reports that Muslim body had agreed for the settlement. Ayodhya Title Dispute Case: Six Muslim Parties Refuse 'Out of Court Settlement'.

The Muslim parties in Ram Janambhoomi – Babri Masjid dispute case also blamed the Supreme Court-appointed panel for leaking the proceedings. They also accused panel member and senior lawyer Sriram Panchu of “acting in cahoots with Sunni Waqf Board chairman Zafar Faruqui, reported CNN News18.

On October 16, the top court completed the hearing on the Ayodhya title dispute case. On the same day, reports surfaced that the Sunni Waqf Board, had dropped claim in the case and the Muslim body would not raise any objection to government acquiring the disputed land.

Reports also claimed that the Sunni Waq Board called the Supreme Court-appointed mediation panel's plan for settlement in the 134-year-old Ayodhya land dispute case a "win-win" situation for both Hindus and Muslims. The Supreme Court is likely to pronounce the verdict before November 17, the day when the CJI is scheduled to demit office.
