New Delhi, January 27: In the latest development in the Ayodhya case, now a five-judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court will not be hearing the case on January 29 due to the non-availability of Justice SA Bobde. The new date for hearing the case has not been decided yet. The decision to change the date was taken two days after Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi reconstituted a five-member bench to hear the case. The new bench headed by CJI Gogoi will comprise of SA Bobde, D Y Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and SA Nazeer.

Earlier, the hearing was postponed from January 10 to January 29 after Justice UU Lalit recused himself from the case. The top court will hear a batch of pleas challenging the Allahabad High Court's 2010 verdict by which the disputed land in Ayodhya was divided into three parts. PM Modi Says Ordinance For Ram Mandir 'Only After Legal Process'.

Meanwhile, the apex court in its earlier hearing on September 27 last year had declined to refer to a five-judge constitution bench the issue of reconsideration of the observations in its 1994 judgment that a mosque was not integral to Islam which had arisen during the hearing of the Ayodhya land dispute.
