Assam, October 22: The state cabinet announced on Monday that no government jobs will be provided to those having more than two children post January 1, 2021. It was part of a decision that was taken at a Cabinet meeting held late on Monday evening. The 2-child norm will be strictly followed and will be implemented.
According to reports, on September 2017, the Assam Assembly had passed the 'Population and Women Empowerment Policy of Assam' that highlighted that job candidates with two children only would be eligible for government employment and the existing government staff were to strictly follow the two children family norm. In the meeting, the Cabinet also took the decision to increase the bus fares in the state by 25 per cent. In addition to the above important announcement being done, the Cabinet also gave their decision on the New Land Policy, which will give three bighas of agricultural land to landless indigenous people and half a bigha for constructing a house. According to the CMO statement, these land cannot be sold for 15 years.
